Shakti meaning empowerment, feminine, creativity and fertility

Shakti, meaning “Power” or “empowerment,” is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe.

Shakti is the concept, or personification, of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as ‘The Great Divine Mother’ in Hinduism. On the earthly plane, shakti most actively manifests through female embodiment and creativity/fertility, though it is also present in males in its potential, unmanifest form.

Not only is Shakti responsible for creation, it is also the agent of all change.

Shakti is the essence of health, happiness and meaning in your life. Anything that has Shakti is alive, luminous and desirable and possesses great creative power. Without Shakti we could not act, think or feel in any way.

Shakti is the essence of vibrant good health and powers all physical functions. Shakti powers all the elements of our mind, all of our thoughts and emotions, memories and desires. Shakti fuels all of our mental faculties, supporting strong balanced growth and development.

When we have Shakti we have the energy to engage with life in meaningful ways. We enjoy learning and changing, and find purpose and fulfilment in everyday life. Shakti gives us the interest and intention to engage in conscious self-development.

It is easy to understand shakti by asking yourself how much shakti you feel that you have. Review the following and see how you measure up.

  • Shakti is the ability to relax deeply.
  • Shakti is the energy to face the stresses of life with resilience, confidence, fortitude  and courage.
  • Shakti is the glow in a glowing complexion.
  • Shakti is the power to take a full breath, the capacity to digest food and all of life’s experiences.
  • Shakti is the ability to expel the things that our body and life does not need.
  • Ultimately Shakti is the fuel that powers our spiritual growth and the awakening of consciousness.
